About Me
Hi, my name is Mohana Gill but my friends affectionately refer to me as Rose.
I was born in Burma, which is now called Myanmar and I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Rangoon before undertaking my MBA from the University of Toronto.
During the military takeover of Burma in 1963, I was a member of staff at the University of Rangoon, before shortly after moving to Malaysia in 1965 to become an economics lecturer in the University of Malaysa.
I officially retired from teaching economics when my first child was born, in order to concentrate on becoming a full time mother to my children.
I am fortunate to have the ability and means to travel extensively, with homes in India, Australia and the United States. All this travelling has led my friends to label me with the nickname ‘The Travelling Gourmet’.
I’ve been lucky enough to grace the kitchen of many a friend and relative in far-reaching and exotic locations all over the world.
“Fruitastic” was my first endeavor into the world of publishing and it was met with much critical acclaim. “Fruitastic” was awarded The Best Single Subject Cookbook and The Best Health and Nutrition Cookbook by the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.”
“Fruitastic” also won a Special Jury Award for best in the world in 2006.
My second book “Vegemania” has been awarded “The Best Vegetarian Book in the World” at the 2007 Gourmand Cookbook Awards held in London and the 2008 awards held in Beijing.
Both my books are for healthy living, longevity and wellness and my mission is to encourage people to add more fruits and vegetables in their diet so as to live a healthy life.
